Hertfordshire Police Authority Members

Hertfordshire County Council appoints nine county councillors to the Police Authority at its Annual General Meeting, which is normally held in May. These are appointed in proportion to the number of seats held by each political party. Currently there are seven Conservative councillors and two Liberal Democrat councillors on the Police Authority.

Independent members are recruited by the Authority with independent oversight as well as a representative of the Home Secretary sitting on the appointment panel.  Independent members are appointed for four years.

Each of the local district/borough areas in Hertfordshire have a Police Authority Lead Member.  To find out who the lead member is for your area please use the Police Authority Lead Members link below.
